Proud Parents

“Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you" (Exodus 20:12).

Today the third egg hatched, and I noticed that the male's role has increased.  The Robins have very strong instincts for helping each other and taking care of their young.  The male brings food to Lady Robin and the baby birds--earthworms, insects and berries.  Occasionally the female will leave the nest, but when she does Sir Robin stays with the nestlings until she returns.  The baby birds will grow rapidly and be ready to leave the nest in two to three weeks.

Birds and animals act out of instinct, but humans act out of emotions, wisdom and obedience.  God created man and woman in His image and gave them children so they could be a loving family, as He is loving.  Because of our sinful condition, God gave us commands regarding our treatment of each other.  When the family is faithful to God's will, it is strong and glorious!

"Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them. Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord. Fathers, do not embitter your children, or they will become discouraged" (Colossians 3:19-21).
